Winter Trends to Try in 2020

The farewell to warmer days is tough. It’s a bittersweet time of year and there’s no sugarcoating it.

But the change of season also signals a few months of cosiness and comfort ahead, and you can look forward to switching up your wardrobe for something a little more... put together. Because let’s be honest, winter dressing takes a minute or two extra to achieve the polished “I got this” vibe.

We love fashion so we're happy to give you the recap on what we’re all wearing this season to keep warm and looking stylish.

Check prints

This is certainly one of the biggest trends of autumn and winter in Australia. Every blogger, influencer and fashionable celeb is wearing checks, and almost every catwalk show at Fashion Week Australia this year featured checks.

Walk on the wild side this winter. Animal prints made a huge splash last summer and are now one of the bigger trends for this winter. We're talking snake prints, leopard print and tiger stripes. Consider these patterns a new neutral because you can wear them with just about anything and any colour - slip skirts, flared jeans, big jumpers. Anything goes!

If you're a bit wary and not ready to buy a top-to-toe tiger print dress, start by adding accessories. A leopard print scarf or snake print handbag are easy ways to wear the trend if you want to try it out before committing to more.

Trends are rarely both fun and practical. This is a rare exception so we are very much on board. Keep the winter chill at bay by piling on a fluffy faux fur to keep yourself cosy. And why not ditch your regular blacks and whites and opt for something in red, purple or burgundy? Since most of your winter wardrobe is probably black, white, grey or denim, a pop of colour can revitalise your style.

Why not try two trends at once and get a faux fur in animal print?

Forest green

Deep, rich greens are colours you'll be seeing everywhere this winter and we could not be more on-board. This colour suits just about everyone. It's great on dark skin and pale skin. It looks fab on blondes and gorgeous on brunettes. Plus, its such a nice change from the winter staples of black and camel.

In case your're worried about colour-clashes, you'd be surprised by just how much of your wardrobe actually matches with forest green.

They're back. Whether you like it or not, they're back. Not full-on 70s bellbottoms of course, but flares that are slightly straighter. You'l be surprised by how slimming a pair of flares can be if you get the right cut.

Puffer jackets

This is perfect for anyone who really feels the cold. Puffer jackets are the unexpected trend this season that even the most fashionable girls are wearing. Go classic and try a black style or be daring and opt for something in a brighter colour.

The one-colour outfit

Pick a tone and dress in it head-to-toe. Wild, we know. Try a mint or deep peach tiered in cotton and silks for something a little different. Or go all in cream or all grey for a high-end classic look. It's comfort slash chic and you'll turn heads wherever you are.
